A Glorious Wonder – Russian Choral music to celebrate Christmas

These wonderful concerts will take you on a journey through the neglected and beautiful sacred choral tradition of Russia.

Under the direction and with music chosen by Andrei Laptev, this concert will include:
Early Russian Polyphony & Polychoral music.
Italianate Russian Baroque vocal concerti by Bortniansky & Vedel including some new transcriptions that have not been performed for over 200 years.
Beautiful Sacred music from the Romantic period by Tchaikovsky.
Music from the "Moscow School" of Chesnokov & Kastalsky.

Tragically most of this music was banned from performance in the USSR for most of the 20th Century and we are delighted to be once again sharing this beautiful and moving vocal experience in the atmospheric setting of the Holy Protection Orthodox Church at Cabramatta and the beautiful intimate acoustic of St Scholastica’s Chapel, Glebe.
